Arrival Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV Airport), meet & assist at the passport control and transfer to your hotel in Tel Aviv.
We drive to the ancient city of Jaffa, the gateway to the Land of Israel. This is the perfect place to stroll through the winded alley-ways, look over the Tel Aviv Seaside, and slowly get acquainted with the Land of Israel. After a short city-tour of Tel Aviv, we drive northwards bound to Mt. Carmel, to the Druze Village Daliat-al-Carmel. We walk through the village, known for its colorful market, and hear about the special Druze people, who have their own, secret religion, and are Arabs that are totally loyal to the State of Israel. Have a genuine Druze lunch, spiced with the stories of the owner of the place, Mr. Danny Halabi, who will tell you about the Druze people & culture as seen by a Druze. A short drive brings us to the Carmelite Monastery Muhraka at the top of Mt. Carmel, where according to Christian Tradition Elijah the Prophet fought the false prophets of the Baal. We end the day at the famous Panorama-viewpoint overlooking the Haifa Bay and the Baha'i Gardens. Over-Night in Haifa.
Drive to Akko (Old Acre) to visit the underground "Knights Halls", extraordinarily preserved since the Crusader Times, the Turkish Bath where "The Last Bath Attendant" will tell you some of Akko's Legends, after which you will experience the typical Bazaar, with the colors and odors of the orient, the port and more… Drive to Rosh Hanikra right at the Lebanese Border, where we will go by cable-car down into the grottos carved by the sea in the soft chalk-rock… We will have a Galilean Lunch at Saba (Grandpa') Habib's press, where we can experience the traditional Galilean way of producing Olive and Sesame Oil (Tahina). Driving on a curved road through the mountains of Upper Galilee we reach Zefat (Safed) – Capital of the Kabbalah. Here we will spend the afternoon in a Kabbalah-experience, exploring some of its unknown places, listening to Hasidic Music and the ancient teachings of the Kabbalah and a dinner in one of those old "Zefati" houses, loaded with miracles and Legends… Over-night in Galilee.
We start the day in Nazareth, where we visit the modern Basilica of the Annunciation, hosting icons of the Virgin Mary from all over the world. Then we visit the places where Jesus acted around the Sea of Galilee: Capernaum, with Peters House and the famous Synagogue, enjoy the view from the Mt. of the Beatitudes, where the "Sermon on the Mount" was given, and the reconstructed church at Tabgha, where tradition puts the miracle of the Bread and The Fish. Now is the time to eat the St. Peter's Fish in a local restaurant by the Sea of Galilee. We will also sail on the sea in a boat similar to the boat used by Jesus and his disciples and end the day at the Yardenit Baptismal Site on the Holy River Jordan. Over-night in Galilee.
After breakfast we ascend the Golan Heights to Caesarea Philippi (Banias) – one of the sources of the holy Jordan River. The natural beauty of the spot is the scenery to the remarkable archaeological findings of Caesarea Philippi, where Jesus gave Peter the authority to be "the Rock on which I shall build my Church!". Drive up to the summit of Mount Bental. From the top of this non-active volcano you have a wide view over the Mountains of Galilee, up to Lebanon, and far over the Syrian border. This is an excellent spot to explain the geography and history of this region in the past and present. Have Lunch at the "Sharila" Restaurant overlooking the borders to Syria and Lebanon. Afterwards meet with Ret. Colonel Kobi Marom, who will talk with you about the current situation in the area. Drive through the Jordan Valley and ascend to the Holy City – Jerusalem! From the top of the Mount of Olives, holy for Jews and Christians, we will have a panoramic view of the Old City of Jerusalem – a perfect site for an introduction to the Holy city and its history. Dinner and Over-night at the King David Hotel (or similar).
Visit the City of David, the very ancient Jerusalem, "where it all began", including (those who dare!) walking in the water through the almost 3000-year-old Hezekiah's Tunnel. Now we have a thorough tour of the Western Wall (Kotel) and the Muslim Quarter, ending at the famous Way of the Cross – the "Via Dolorosa". The stations of the Via Dolorosa lead us through the colorful "Suq" (Bazaar) of the Old City to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, where we will see the Hill of Calvary (Golgotha) and the empty Tomb of Jesus. We will have a typical local Lunch near the Old City before we drive to Bethlehem and visit the ancient Church of Nativity, the very place where Jesus was born, with the Catholic St. Catherine Church housing the tombs of the Forty Innocent Children, as well as the Milk Grotto. Important Remark: Bethlehem is under the control of the Palestinian Authority, and hence all the responsibility there lies in the hands of our Palestinian Partners. Tour can be cancelled or altered without prior notice. Dinner and Over-night at the King David Hotel (or similar).
Today we leave Jerusalem and head down to the Dead Sea – the deepest place on Earth! We will hike through the Ein Gedi Nature Reserve, rich in water and wildlife. We will then climb (by cable-car…) the cliff-fortress Masada. Here, on a high cliff in the middle of the desert King Herod the Great built a magnificent palace. This fortified palace was later used by Jewish rebels as a stronghold against the Romans. Their heroic struggle against the mighty Roman Empire became a significant symbol for the modern state of Israel and was recognized by UNESCO as "World Heritage Site". We will have lunch in one of the nearby hotels by the Dead Sea, where we will also be able to use their spa facilities and float (you can't swim!) in those peculiar waters of the Dead Sea, known for their healing qualities… Now we drive south into the Negev Desert. Here we will have a short ride on camels, followed by a "Hafla" dinner in a Bedouin-style tent, with the famous Bedouin hospitality… Over-night in rural accommodation ("Zimmer") in the Negev (Israeli desert).
Drive to Sde Boker, to visit Ben Gurion's Hut and his tomb, located in a special garden, overlooking the Zin Valley. Now we drive to the Ramon Crater, a unique geological phenomena, only to be found in the Negev Desert. Here we make a four hours Jeep Safari, a desert-experience that will bring us to some of the geological and historical highlights of the crater. We will have a picnic-lunch in the desert! In the afternoon we will meet our bus again and drive to Eilat, in order to get there early, to be able to enjoy the resort-city by the Red Sea. Over-night in Eilat.
Time permitting; visit the Underwater Observatory in Eilat, with its colorful world of amazing sea creatures. Flight to Tel Aviv. or continue with us to Jordan or Egypt.. End of our services.
